Dictation that never hears you twice

Your voice becomes text on your own machine, and the audio is gone the moment it does. Nothing is uploaded, because there is nowhere to upload it to.

Never leaves your Mac

  • Your audio — it is transcribed on your Mac and discarded
  • Your transcripts — the last 200 stay on your Mac, yours to read or clear
  • Anything you dictate into a password field — it is never even logged locally
  • The vocabulary Aly learns from your corrections

What does leave

  • Your email address, when you start a trial or buy
  • A one-way ID for your Mac, so a trial cannot be restarted forever

That is the entire list of what we receive, and you can ask us to delete it. Aly also checks for its own updates and downloads speech models — neither carries anything you dictated.

Why “we don't store it” is a weaker promise than this

Plenty of dictation services promise not to keep your recordings. That may be perfectly sincere, but it is a promise about what someone does with data they already have — and a promise can be changed by a new policy, a new owner, or a court order.

Aly is making a different kind of statement. The audio is not retained because it is never sent. There is no server that hears you, so there is no log to change its mind about, hand over, or lose in a breach. The privacy is a property of where the work happens, not of our good intentions.

If you handle other people's confidences

Lawyers, clinicians, therapists and journalists keep telling us the same thing: cloud dictation is a non-starter, because sending a client's words to a third party is not theirs to do. Aly avoids that by never making the transfer in the first place.

To be clear about what we are not claiming: Aly carries no compliance certification, and we are not telling you it satisfies any particular regime. What we can tell you precisely is what the software does — the two lists above — so you or your compliance officer can judge it against the rules you actually work under.

Seven days, no card

Turn off your wifi and dictate a paragraph. That is the whole demonstration.
